Privacy policy

Short version: BtcMedia has no user accounts, runs no advertising trackers and sets no analytics cookies. Our calculators work inside your browser. This page lists everything that does touch your data.

Hosting and traffic counts

btcmedia.news is a static website delivered through Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes your IP address, browser type and the page you request in order to deliver the page and block attacks. We see only aggregate counts from it (for example visits per page and per country), never a list of individual visitors.

Calculators and tools

Numbers you type into our tax, TDS, SIP and price calculators are processed by JavaScript in your browser. We do not receive or store them. To show prices, the page downloads public price files from our own servers (btcmedia.news and btcmedia-prices.surge.sh).

If you subscribe to the Sunday briefing, your email address is sent to Kit, the service that sends it. We use it only to send that newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

What is stored in your browser

Theme: your light/dark choice (localStorage).
Reading list and recent pages: pages you saved or opened, kept on your device so the reading list and offline mode work. They never leave your device.
Offline copies: our service worker keeps copies of up to 40 pages you opened so they load without a connection.
Small counters: for example how many visits you have made, so the "Add to home screen" tip shows only from your second visit and stays hidden after you close it, and short-lived caches of the latest price (sessionStorage).

You can clear all of this at any time in your browser settings. None of it is used to identify or track you.

Google Translate (only if you choose it)

The language menu in the header uses Google Translate. Only if you pick a language, we set a googtrans cookie with your choice and load Google's translation script, and Google processes the page text under Google's privacy policy. Choosing English again removes the cookie. Our own Hindi pages under /hi/ do not use it.

Links, sharing and Telegram

Share buttons (WhatsApp, X, LinkedIn and others) are plain links. Nothing is loaded from those services until you click one. If you join our Telegram group, Telegram's own privacy policy applies there.

Advertising

We run no ad networks and no tracking pixels. Sponsored placements, when we have them, are labelled "Sponsored" and are served from our own pages, so a sponsor does not receive any data about you. See our advertising terms and editorial policy.

Your choices and contact

We do not sell personal data and do not build profiles. To ask what we hold about you (in practice, at most a newsletter address) or to have it deleted, email [email protected]. We reply within 30 days. If we change this policy, we update the date above.
