Crypto SIP

A crypto SIP (systematic investment plan) is a feature offered by many exchanges and apps that automatically buys a fixed amount of cryptocurrency at regular intervals, such as ₹500 every week or ₹5,000 every month. The name borrows from mutual fund SIPs familiar to Indian investors, and the strategy is the same as dollar-cost averaging.

Investing a fixed amount regularly means you buy more coins when prices are low and fewer when they are high, which smooths your average purchase price and removes the stress of trying to time the market. It suits volatile assets like bitcoin, where short-term price predictions are unreliable.

A crypto SIP does not guarantee profit, and it does not protect you if the asset itself fails, so it is usually used for large, established coins rather than speculative tokens. Unlike mutual fund SIPs, crypto SIPs are not regulated by SEBI and are not covered by investor-protection schemes. Check the platform's fees and spreads, which can be higher on small recurring buys.
