Glossary / DEX aggregator
DEX aggregator
A DEX aggregator is a service that searches many decentralised exchanges and liquidity pools to find you the best price for a token swap. Instead of trading on just one DEX, it can split your order across several routes, such as part through Uniswap and part through Curve, to reduce slippage.
Well-known aggregators include 1inch, Matcha (0x), CoW Swap, ParaSwap and Jupiter on Solana. Many wallets, including MetaMask, have built-in swap features that use aggregators behind the scenes, often adding their own fee.
Aggregators can save money on larger trades and some offer protection against MEV sandwich attacks. As with any DeFi tool, you need to approve token spending, so check that you are on the genuine website, review the approval amount and confirm the quoted price, fees and minimum received before signing. Fake aggregator sites promoted through search ads are a common phishing technique.
