Ethereum gas fee in INR
By BtcMedia Research · Live gas, snapshot 31 October 2026
Sending ETH or a token such as USDT on Ethereum costs a "gas" fee: the gas the transaction uses × the gas price (in gwei; 1 gwei = 0.000000001 ETH). The gas price has two parts: the base fee, set by how busy the network is and burned, and a tip that goes to the validator. Below, live gas is converted at today's rupee price of ETH.
Sending ETH, right now
Snapshot 31 October 2026₹0.21
A plain ETH transfer = 21,000 gas, standard speed. 0.046 gwei · base fee 0.039 gwei
| Speed | Gas price | Send ETH | Send USDT |
|---|---|---|---|
| Slow | 0.04 gwei | ₹0.18 | ₹0.39 |
| Standard | 0.046 gwei | ₹0.21 | ₹0.45 |
| Fast | 0.157 gwei | ₹0.70 | ₹1.54 |
Sending ETH typically costs about ₹0.59 right now (30-day median), against about ₹11 for a Bitcoin send, so ETH is roughly 19× cheaper to move. It was the cheaper of the two on 179 of the last 179 days. In 2022 it was the other way round: on Etherscan's daily average, ETH was cheaper to send on only 26 of 365 days.
Note: the "average gas price" quoted on many sites is pulled up by a few transactions paying big tips (bots, urgent trades). Over the last 30 days, Etherscan's average would put an ETH send at ₹4.32, about 7× what a typical transaction actually paid.

Cheap: the fee is ₹0.21, <0.01% of what you are sending. For scale, the 1% TDS on selling ₹10,000 of crypto is ₹100.
This is an Ethereum mainnet estimate. Layer-2s such as Arbitrum or Base, and other networks, charge different fees. Your wallet shows the final fee; check it before you send.
Sending ETH vs sending Bitcoin
A typical Bitcoin transaction (141 vB) costs about ₹11 right now and an ETH transfer about ₹0.59. That was not always so. Below are the days in each year when sending ETH was cheaper than sending Bitcoin, at that day's rupee prices. The ETH side uses Etherscan's average gas price, which runs above the typical cost, so the count is strict on ETH.
| Year | ETH cheaper | Days |
|---|---|---|
| 2017 (from 16 Aug) | 100% | 138 / 138 |
| 2018 | 53% | 192 / 365 |
| 2019 | 95% | 348 / 365 |
| 2020 | 87% | 319 / 366 |
| 2021 | 28% | 101 / 365 |
| 2022 | 7% | 26 / 365 |

When gas is cheapest (IST)
Over the last ~6 months (3 May 2026 to 31 Oct 2026, 12,96,384 blocks), gas was lowest in the Indian morning: the median was 0.102 gwei at 9 AM–12 PM IST versus 0.355 gwei at 6–9 PM IST, about 3.5× more. India's evening is when US markets open and the network gets busy. Sunday was the cheapest day of the week and Thursday the most expensive.

Each block's gas price = base fee + that block's median tip; the median of each group. When the network is quiet the rupee difference is small; on busy days the same pattern can mean a real saving. Past patterns are not a guarantee.
What sending ETH has cost since 2017
Even on Etherscan's average, the last 30 days' cost (₹4.32) is lower than on 80% of days since 16 Aug 2017. The most expensive day was 1 May 2022: ₹2,155.
| Year | Typical cost (median) | Most expensive day |
|---|---|---|
| 2017 | ₹10 | ₹4520 Dec 2017 |
| 2018 | ₹9.13 | ₹15810 Jan 2018 |
| 2019 | ₹3.77 | ₹8019 Feb 2019 |

3,362 days. Each day: Etherscan's average gas price that day × 21,000 gas × that day's rupee ETH price. The average is pulled up by a few expensive transactions, so the typical cost was lower.
FAQ
How much is the Ethereum gas fee in INR right now?
At the 31 October 2026 snapshot the base fee was 0.039 gwei and the standard tip 0.007 gwei, so a 21,000-gas ETH transfer cost 0.000000966 ETH = ₹0.21. The box at the top updates live from a public Ethereum node.
How much gas does sending USDT (ERC-20) use?
We looked at the latest 289 successful USDT transfers: the median was 46,097 gas, about 2.2× a plain ETH transfer. At the current rate that is ₹0.45. Sending to an address that has never held USDT uses more gas.
When is Ethereum gas cheapest?
Over the last ~6 months (3 May 2026 to 31 Oct 2026, 12,96,384 blocks), gas was lowest in the Indian morning: the median was 0.102 gwei at 9 AM–12 PM IST versus 0.355 gwei at 6–9 PM IST, about 3.5× more. India's evening is when US markets open and the network gets busy. Sunday was the cheapest day of the week and Thursday the most expensive.
Why does my wallet show a much higher "max fee"?
Wallets set a generous max fee so the transaction does not get stuck if the base fee jumps. You only pay the block's actual base fee plus your tip; the rest is never charged. If a transaction fails, the gas it used is still spent.
Is there 1% TDS or 30% tax when I move ETH to my own wallet?
Moving coins from your own exchange account to your own wallet is not a sale: there is no buyer and no money received, so no 1% TDS is deducted. Tax applies when you sell, swap or pay with crypto. The 30% tax allows no deduction except the cost of acquisition, so do not subtract gas fees as an expense.
What was the most expensive day to send ETH?
Since 16 Aug 2017, 1 May 2022, the weekend of Yuga Labs' Otherside NFT mint. Etherscan's average gas price was 475 gwei, so a 21,000-gas transfer cost ₹2,155 at that day's price.
How we calculated this: live gas comes from a public Ethereum node's eth_feeHistory: the next block's base fee plus the 25th/50th/75th percentile tip over the last 20 blocks (slow/standard/fast), converted at CoinGecko's live rupee price. USDT gas: the median actual gasUsed of successful USDT transfer() calls in the latest blocks. History: Etherscan's daily average gas price × Bitstamp ETH/USD close × ECB USD/INR rate; the last ~6 months from every block's base fee + median tip. Data to 29 Oct 2026, refreshed daily.
