DYOR (do your own research)

DYOR stands for "do your own research". It is a reminder, often attached to posts and videos about crypto, that you should verify claims yourself rather than invest because of someone else's recommendation.

Useful research includes reading the project's white paper and documentation, checking who the team and investors are, looking at the token's supply, allocation and unlock schedule, reviewing smart-contract audits, examining holder distribution and liquidity on a block explorer, and searching for independent criticism rather than only promotional content. For exchanges, check registration status, proof of reserves and track record.

DYOR is also used by influencers as a disclaimer while they promote tokens they may be paid to push, so treat the phrase itself with some caution. Real research means seeking out sources with no stake in the outcome. If you cannot explain what a token does, where its value comes from and how you would exit, you probably should not buy it.
