October 2026 (month to date): median Bitcoin premium
+6.30%
Range +5.98% to +6.90% across 42 samples, 22 Oct, 6:24 pm IST to 23 Oct, 6:26 pm IST. Average of the three exchanges.
Collection started on 22 October 2026, so this first edition covers less than a day. Figures firm up as samples accumulate; the first full month is November 2026.
By exchange, October 2026
Lowest median Bitcoin premium first. Premium = exchange last-trade price ÷ (global price × USD/INR) − 1.
| Exchange | BTC median | BTC range | USDT median | USDT range |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WazirX | +5.79% | +5.33% to +7.25% | +6.70% | +5.90% to +7.19% |
| CoinDCX | +6.50% | +5.82% to +6.74% | +6.35% | +5.87% to +6.92% |
| ZebPay | +6.73% | +6.32% to +7.07% | +6.60% | +6.19% to +6.73% |
When the USDT premium is close to the Bitcoin premium, most of the extra cost comes from the rupee-to-dollar leg, not from Bitcoin itself.
Method
- Every 15 minutes we record the last traded BTC/INR and USDT/INR price from the public ticker APIs of WazirX, CoinDCX and ZebPay, and the CoinGecko global BTC/USD price and implied USD/INR rate.
- Each month we report the mean, median, minimum and maximum premium, overall and per exchange. Months still in progress are labelled "month to date".
- Samples older than one hour are discarded. Nothing is interpolated.

FAQ
What is the India Crypto Price Index?
A monthly measure of how much more Indians pay for Bitcoin and USDT on rupee exchanges than the global price converted at the USD/INR rate. It is built from our own 15-minute samples of public exchange prices.
Which exchanges are included?
WazirX, CoinDCX and ZebPay, three FIU-IND-registered exchanges with public ticker APIs. Each sample uses the last traded BTC/INR and USDT/INR price.
Why report the median as well as the mean?
Last-trade prices on thin order books can jump for a few minutes. The median is less affected by those spikes, so we lead with it.
Can I use this data?
Yes. The full monthly dataset is free to reuse with a link to this page; download it as JSON below.
Data, not advice. Not a recommendation of any exchange. Your actual price also includes fees, GST and spread.
