Bitcoin transaction fee in INR

By BtcMedia Research · Live fees, snapshot 31 October 2026

When you move Bitcoin from an exchange to your own wallet, or pay someone, you pay a network fee to miners. It depends on the size of the transaction (in vB) and how busy the network is (in sat/vB), not on the amount. Below, mempool.space's live fee estimates are converted at today's rupee price.

A typical transaction (141 vB) costs about ₹11 right now (30-day median). That is cheaper than on 80% of days since 2017. On the most expensive day, 20 Apr 2024, the halving day, the same transaction cost ₹6,586 (861 sat/vB). The estimates above err on the safe side: the median rate in blocks mined over the last 30 days was 1 sat/vB, so if you are not in a hurry the economy rate is often enough.

When fees are cheapest (IST)

Over the last ~6 months (30 Apr 2026 to 31 Oct 2026), fees were lowest in the Indian morning: the average median rate was 0.77 sat/vB at 9 AM–12 PM IST versus 1.85 sat/vB at 9 PM–12 AM IST, about 2.4× more. India's night is the US and European working day, when the network is busiest. Sunday was the cheapest day of the week and Friday the most expensive.

Who your fee pays: miner revenue in rupees

Over the last 144 blocks (about a day), miners earned about ₹333 crore, and only ₹2.55 crore of it (0.77%) came from fees. The rest is the block subsidy: 3.125 new BTC per block, ₹2.3 crore at today's price. That is why your transaction is cheap: the subsidy, not you, is paying for the network's security right now.

What comes next: the next halving is at block 1,050,000, 76,074 blocks away (around April 2028 at 10 minutes a block; the real date depends on mining speed). The subsidy then drops from 3.125 to 1.5625 BTC, ₹1.15 crore less per block at today's price. The subsidy keeps shrinking this way, so fees are expected to matter more to miners over time, though nobody can say when.

3,589 days. Each day: mempool.space's average revenue per block (subsidy + fees) and average fees per block, × that day's rupee price (Bitstamp × ECB). The last-144-block figures (blocks 973,783–973,926) are mempool.space's exact totals, at today's price. Hashrate: mempool.space's estimate, averaged over the 7 days from 1 Nov 2025 and the 7 days to 31 Oct 2026.

Why exchange withdrawal fees differ from the network fee

The network fee goes to miners and changes every minute. An exchange's withdrawal fee is set by the exchange, usually a fixed amount of BTC, and it does not fall when the network is quiet. So if you are moving Bitcoin to your own wallet, withdraw once rather than in many small amounts. In India the 1% TDS is deducted on sales, but sending to your own wallet is not a sale. See: the 1% TDS guide and Indian exchanges.

FAQ

How much is the Bitcoin transaction fee in INR right now?

At the 31 October 2026 snapshot the ~30-minute rate was 1 sat/vB, so a typical 141 vB transaction cost 141 sats = ₹10. The box at the top updates live from mempool.space.

Does the fee depend on how much I send?

No. Send ₹1,000 or ₹10 lakh: the fee is set by the transaction size (vB) and the rate (sat/vB). That is why the fee looks large on small amounts. A transaction with many inputs (for example many small deposits spent together) is bigger and costs more.

Why is my exchange withdrawal fee higher?

Most exchanges charge a fixed withdrawal fee in BTC that does not follow the live network rate, so it stays the same even when the network is cheap. Type your exchange's fee into the calculator above to see it in rupees and as a multiple of the network fee.

When are Bitcoin fees lowest?

Over the last ~6 months (30 Apr 2026 to 31 Oct 2026), fees were lowest in the Indian morning: the average median rate was 0.77 sat/vB at 9 AM–12 PM IST versus 1.85 sat/vB at 9 PM–12 AM IST, about 2.4× more. India's night is the US and European working day, when the network is busiest. Sunday was the cheapest day of the week and Friday the most expensive.

Is there 1% TDS or 30% tax when I move Bitcoin to my own wallet?

Moving coins from your own exchange account to your own wallet is not a sale: there is no buyer and no money received, so no 1% TDS is deducted. Tax applies when you sell, swap or pay with Bitcoin. The 30% tax allows no deduction except the cost of acquisition, so do not subtract network fees as an expense.

Who gets the Bitcoin fee, and how much do miners earn in rupees?

The fee goes to the miner who puts your transaction in a block. Over the last 144 blocks miners earned about ₹333 crore in total; fees were 0.77% of it and the rest was the 3.125 BTC subsidy per block.

What was the most expensive day to send Bitcoin?

Since 2017, 20 Apr 2024, the 2024 halving day. The median block rate was 861 sat/vB, so a 141 vB transaction cost 1,21,401 sats = ₹6,586 at that day's price.

How we calculated this: live fees are mempool.space's recommended fees (next block, ~30 min, ~1 hour, economy), converted at CoinGecko's live rupee price. History: mempool.space block fee rates (each block's median, sat/vB), averaged per day, × Bitstamp BTC/USD close × ECB USD/INR rate. "Typical transaction" = 1 input, 2 outputs, native SegWit, 141 vB. Data to 29 Oct 2026, refreshed about every 6 hours. Not financial advice.
